MEET OUR BOARD MEMBERS

Mark. Fletcher, Vice President, brings to our group a broad range of skills in the areas of project management, team building, and technology expertise to the organization. He serves as an adviser and board member, providing various functions to the development of the organization. Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Fletcher served a variety of nonprofits and educational institutions with technology needs assessments, technology planning, and cost-effective online projects.
 
His professional background spans vast areas in the technology and defense industry. He holds a graduate degree in English and Computer science from East Tennessee State University.  He works as a lead computer scientist for an international consulting firm providing services to fortune 500 companies. His career has also encompassed other industries including forays into music. He compose and perform music using the latest technology as well as utilizing traditional instruments, such as guitar and bass. He utilized his music interest to provide entertainment to the elderly, the poor and sick. 

Ceasar Pancham, Treasurer, His experience in the field of social welfare has allowed him to play a critical and integral role in the implementation and organization of a multitude of tasks in assistance with our projects. He is dedicated to hands-on service and advocacy for needy individuals and families. His past jobs includes social work with the NYC Human Resources Administration as well as a radio announcer at several NYC radio stations. He currently is an English teacher at the Roosevelt High School in District of Columbia.

He was born in the Caribbean, grew up and was raised in Brooklyn, is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology at Brooklyn College, City University of New York with a degree in communications and obtained a master in English Literature at Howard University. Ceasar Pancham has a big heart and likes to help. He brings a multicultural background and sensitivity to the downtroden and his passion for bridging the "literary divide" by providing access to relevant information and access to literacy to the disenfranchised in the diverse community of New York.

In his spare time, he loves to plays guitar and drums, and expresses his talent as a songwriter and poet.

Eunide Alexandre, founder of the Alexandre Foundation, is an activist whose activities encompass public service, social entrepreneurship, local politics, health care, and civic responsibility. Ms. Alexandre made a conscious decision to dedicate her life to public service and to encourage others to achieve their potential and become contributing members of the community. 

Ms. Alexandre has worked on behalf of many groups and issues, including housing, civil liberties, and rights for the elderly and people with mental and physical disabilities and special needs. She is a skilled community organizer, facilitator, and creator of grassroots community groups.

Ms. Alexandre has also run political campaigns and serves on several nonprofit boards. At age 14, Ms. Alexandre served as a caregiver to her grandmother who had Parkinson’s disease. This formative experience motivated Ms. Alexandre to create support systems for people whose lives have been touched by Parkinson’s. Most recently, she created a support group in Queens, which she facilitates

Ms. Alexandre is also committed to entrepreneurship and works to help community members start their own businesses, and to support small business initiatives. Her business acumen was evident when she started her own business after graduating from high school.

Ms. Alexandre earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from York University and a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York system.

Sharon Mitchell, Secretary, is a long time immigrant advocate, with much of her volunteer work focused on justice and dignity for the immigrants from the Caribbean island. She helps the organization works to ensure immigrants services and issues. She has volunteered for numerous local civic organizations including the Community Voice Heard. She is passionate about local political issues and is very active in issues affecting minorities people in the community and host a monthly Public Access Television show called Voice of Jamaica. She works as an Auditor for American International Group in Manhattan.


Carl Herr, Board President, is a writer and poet and an advocate for people with disabilities. He has worked in systems advocacy for people with disabilities, worked to help individuals with disabilities self advocate, and worked to improve services available to people with disabilities. He advocates within the media to get his opinions across and for social change. He is currently working on advocacy for new treatment for people with mental illness.

Mr. Herr was born in Russia and raised in Queens.  He has specialized in representing people with disabilities in Social Security hearings so they are can obtain their full benefits without paying for an attorney. He has arranged literary readings for people with disabilities and encouraged people with disabilities to advocate for themselves to increase their level of independence at home, in the community, and in educational and public environments.

Mr. Herr's poetry and photography have been published in such literary magazines as Struggle, Schmaga, The Musing Place and Lucid Moon. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his work with the disability community, including the Bienstock and Dick Gelman awards. He graduated from Queens College with a degree in sociology.

William Struhs, Board member, bring his considerable experience and skills to bear on behalf of the issues that are not being addressed that negatively impact the disenfranchised and disadvantaged community. He has also been active in the fight for civil rights issues and has organized and led hundreds of demonstrations on behalf of people whose issues would never have publicly known otherwise.  He has produced thousands of Public Television programs for nonprofit organizations.
 
He has a long history of progressive local political involvement and also worked as a political consultant and public relations person for the last twenty years. He recently served the people of New York City recently as chief of staff for a New York City council member and now works as a private consultant. He is a graduate of York College.
